- Iris Society Dig
- Saturday, August 11, 2012 7:00am - 4:30pm
Minnesota Landscape Arboretum
3675 Arboretum Dr., Chaska, MN 55318
Each year, the Iris Society of Minnesota digs approximately one-third of the Iris collection at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. This digging renovates the collection and keeps it from getting overcrowded. The excess Iris plants are sold to the public for our annual fund-raiser.
This year the dig will be Saturday, August 11, beginning at 7 a.m. and going until we are done, usually late afternoon. Volunteers get "paid" in free iris from ISM members' gardens. We serve a continental breakfast and a Crockpot lunch to workers. Water, juice and coffee will be available in the Picnic Shelter closest to the Iris Collection Garden (at the end of the Three-Mile Drive). All are welcome, as more hands make the work go faster. We dig, separate, label, scrub and sanitize (with a bleach solution) each rhizome.
